Colour Combo Card

Oh my goodness, I can't believe it's Tuesday already!  I was just about to write Monday and realised that had already passed.............  it's really true that time goes faster as you get older!

Today I have a card to show you that I made for the Colour Q Challenge

Lucky Limeade is a new In Colour from Stampin' Up! that they USA had in their new catalogue.  It's yet to arrive in the UK, so I substituted with Old Olive which is similar but slightly darker.

I used Basic Gray for the card base.  The second layer is Textured Whisper White which I have embossed using the Big Shot and Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder.  Before putting the card into the embossing folder I used a Brayer to add Bashful Blue ink to show on the debossed side.
This has been mounted with edges in Tempting Turquoise punched with the Eyelet Border Punch.
The sentiment is from So Happy For You (Retired SAB) inked in Tempting Turquoise and stamped into the Four Frames image already stamped in Old Olive ink.  This was cut out with the Decorative Label Punch and edged in Tempting Turquoise card.  I popped it onto the center of the card with Dimensionals, and added two Old Olive Designer Buttons to the embossed background.

I kind of feel like there's something missing - it's not quite right!  Maybe I'll have another go tomorrow :o)

The Details:
Card / Paper - Basic Gray / Tempting Turquoise / Whisper White Textured and Smooth
Stamps / Ink - Bashful Blue / Old Olive / Tempting Turquoise / Four Frames / So Happy For You (Retired SAB)
Embellishments -  Designer Buttons
Tools - Decorative Label Punch / Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder / Eyelet Border Punch / Dimensionals / Snail / Tombow / Glue Dots / Trimmer / Stampin Scrub and Mist

Blue for Boys

Hello everyone,

I can't believe it's Tuesday already!  Where is the week going?

I had such a busy, but brilliant weekend.  I was helping run a Stampin' Up! stand at the Art Stamp Show at Newbury Racecourse.  I meet so many lovely people over the two days, and had a brilliant time with all the other girls working the stand.  Big thanks to Hayley Gillie for organising it all - you can take a look at her blog HERE

I spent a lot of yesterday making cards to send to lots of the ladies who visited the stand, they are now all in the post.  So back to my blog and I have just made a quick card today to show you.  I am heading out shortly to see Take That at Wembley Stadium.  Soooooo excited!!!!!!

I'm loving the Clean and Simple (CAS) look at the moment, so made this one layer card in a jiffy!
I used the star stamp from Fun and Fast Notes, inked with various blue markers and stamped directly onto Whisper White card base working diagonally across the page.  The sentiment is from the retired So Happy For You SAB set.  I thought the style of the sentiment went really well with the stars.

I'm entering this cards into two challenges:

I hope you have a wonderful rest of the day.
I should hopefully be awake enough tomorrow to post again :o)

The Details:
Card / Paper -  Whisper White
Stamps / Ink - Fun & Fast Note / So Happy For You (SAB - retired) / Markers in Bashful Blue / Marina Mist / Baja Breeze
Embellishments - None
Tools - Stamp-a-ma-jig / Trimmer / Stampin Scrub and Mist

My First Gift Card Holder

Hi everyone!  How is Tuesday treating you so far?  Good I hope.

I wanted to share with you a gift card holder that I made all by myself, no tutorial, no template.  Probably not the most difficult of tasks, but I was pretty pleased with it.
It came about because I recently ordered the Scallop Envelope Sizzix Die, which I knew was only small, but I was disappointed to find that is was only a few millimeters short of fitting a gift card :o(  I should have checked this out before ordering it maybe!

So, time to sort one out for myself.
I cut a piece of textured Concord Crush card to 23cm by 9cm, then scored at 1cm and 12cm along the longest side.  Fold and run the Bone Folder over these, then run a length of Sticky Strip along the 1cm tab and fold round and stick down.  I enclosed the bottom by popping in two Eyelets with my Crop-o-dile, and then tied some 1/2" Pear Pizzazz Seam Binding Ribbon through the holes.  I used the 1" punch on the top edge to make a grab hole.  I used Pear Pizzazz cut 10cm by 7.5cm for the insert, and using the gift card as a guide cut two slits at opposite corners to hold the gift card in place.  I topped it off with one of the Four Frames stamped images with a sentiment from So Happy For You, a retired SAB set, and punched it out with the Decorative Label Punch.
A pretty quick and useful make.  It adds a nice personal touch to something which can sometimes be seen as a non-personal gift, though sometimes gift cards are the only way to go :o)

I hope you find this item and my (hopefully understandable) instructions of use to you.
Let me know what you think of my creation by leaving a comment below - and if you'd like to have a workshop in your home, then this is one of the projects we can make along with some cards.  Just email me for information at craftybugjules@yahoo.co.uk

CAS-ual Friday - New Challenge

Hi there,

I happened to stop by the CAS-ual Fridays challenge blog this week and took a fancy to the challenge they had displayed.  It was a tic-tac-toe board and the idea was to pick three elements from it, either in a straight line, across or down, or diagonally.  The elements were chipboard, gems, emboss, ribbon, die or punch, felt, buttons, flowers and twine.  I went with a straight line down the middle - gems, punch and flowers!

I used some SAB favourites of mine, So Happy For You and Sweet Summer - sadly now retired :o(
I grabbed the lovely In Colour card stock and ink pads and set to work to create this card:

I made the scallop border using the 1 1/2" Scallop Square Punch, working it across the edge of the Pear Pizzazz card.  It gives the opposite cut effect to the Scallop Border Punch, which I don't yet own.
I added some Basic Rhinestones to the flower centres for that added Bling!

The Details:
Card / Paper - Whisper White / Peach Parfait / Pear Pizzazz
Stamps / Ink - So Happy For You / Sweet Summer / Peach Parfait / Pear Pizzazz / Blushing Bride
Embellishments - Basic Rhinestones
Tools - Trimmer / 1 1/2" Scallop Square Punch / Snail / Stampin Scrub and Mist

Printed Petals Birthday

Hello,

Monday again, but not so bad this week seeing as it's a day off work.
I managed to get some crafting done yesterday afternoon and started working my way through a list of cards my (almost) sister in law asked me to make.  Three down, another 10 or so to go!!!!  It will be keeping me busy today :o)  And a brilliant excuse not to be helping my lovely boyfriend re-felt the shed roof!

So, a birthday card today.  I used the Printed Petals stamp set and my trusty Colour Coach to find this lovely bright colour combo of Sahara Sand, Regal Rose and Tempting Turquoise.  In never ceases to amaze me how colours I would never have though to put together work so well.

I used all of the colours and various stamps to cover some Whisper White card, then I inked up the image that co-ordinates with the 1 3/4" Scallop Circle Punch in Regal Rose and stamped it onto a separate piece of white and punched it out.  I added a Tempting Turquoise Designer Button and popped this over the same design on the main sheet.  I mounted it on some textured and smooth card, and before putting this all onto the Sahara Sand card blank I added my sentiment.  I stamped Birthday Wishes (from So Happy For You SAB retired set) in Versamark ink, then added White Embossing Powder and used my heat gun to melt and set this.
I was worried that the white sentiment wouldn't show very well on the light card base, but it came out really well.

I am entering this card into The Paper Players challenge this week - Anything Goes!

The Details:
Card / Paper - Sahara Sand / Temping Turquoise / Whisper White / Regal Rose textured
Stamps / Ink - Printed Petals / So Happy For You (retired SAB) / Regal Rose / Tempting Turquoise / Sahara Sand / Versamark
Embellishments - Designer Button
Tools - White Embossing Powder / 1 3/4" Scalloped Circle Punch / Colour Coach / Stamp-a-ma-jig / Snail / Glue Dots / Dimensionals / Trimmer / Stampin Scrub and Mist

Congratulations Jenny and Richard!!!

Oh how wonderful - my friends Jenny and Richard are expecting a baby.
They are the couple who I made the penguin card for when it was their anniversary last week.  Well on the same day as their anniversary, they had their 12 week scan and were told everything is looking just fine.
Now I made this card at the weekend, but they know I blog, so I've waited a few days to put this post up so the card has time to reach them.

I used the Stamping 411 Sketch as a template for my design, and quite appropriately used the Nursery Suite DSP along with the prams image from the Queue Up stamp set.  This is now retired, boo hoo!!!

I hope they like it, and I wish Jenny and Richard a wonderful pregnancy!

The Details:
Card / Paper - Nursery Suite DSP / Chocolate Chip Textured Card / Pear Pizzazz Card / Regal Rose Card
Stamps / Ink - Queue Up (retired level 3 hostess set) / So Happy For You (retired SAB set) / Basic Black / Baja Breeze / So Saffron / Regal Rose / Pear Pizzazz
Embellishments - Pear Pizzazz 1/2" Seam Binding Ribbon
Tools - Eyelet Border Punch / Stamp-a-ma-jig / Snail / Sticky Strip / Stampin Scrub and Mist / Trimmer

Beautiful Wings - it finally arrived!

I placed a product order a few weeks back now, and the one item I desperately wanted was out of stock :o(
Well today it finally arrived, and I was so excited I went straight to my craft room and started making a card.
In the new mini catalogue are lots of die cutting plates from Sizzix, many of which are exclusive to Stampin' Up! and cannot be purchased anywhere else.
Beautiful Wings is an Embosslit Die - a unique die with a positive and negative image that simultaneously cuts and embosses a variety of designs on card or DSP.
Here is the card I made - sweet and simple!
I ran Melon Mambo, Tempting Turquoise and Pumpkin Pie through my die cutting machine in the embosslit and got this lovely variety of butterflies, and more to spare.
The sentiment is from the SAB set So Happy For You (sadly now retired, sorry)
I punched it out with the new Decorative Label Punch, smaller by feeding it in and cutting down the sides to fit nicely around the words.  I also cut edges of Basic Black with the same punch and layered them to the back to give it a shadow effect and make it stand out from the Whisper White card base the butterflies are mounted on.

This card fits in nicely with the current SUO Challenge 18 - In Celebration Of Butterflies so I'm going to join in and pop my card in the gallery.

Hope you like it xx

The Details:
Card / Paper - Basic Black Textured / Whisper White / Melon Mambo / Tempting Turquoise / Pumpkin Pie
Stamps / Ink - So Happy For You (SAB) / Melon Mambo
